Our stay at Alpinhotel Bort was truly an unforgettable experience, despite being snowed in due to a freak snowfall in April 2024. This was our first night and our first time in Switzerland, and the hotel provided an authentic Swiss experience that we will cherish forever. The location of the hotel is ideal, perfectly situated close to the Grindelwald-First gondola station, making it a convenient spot for ski-in/ski-out access. The staff were wonderful, offering excellent customer service that made us feel right at home. Our bedroom was cozy, comfortable, clean, and pleasant, providing a perfect retreat during the snowy weather. Although we were unable to fully take in the majestic mountain views due to the clouds and snow, the surroundings were still beautiful and serene. The breakfast spread was amazing, with a variety of delicious options to start our day off right. The assortment of cheese and bread was complemented by their excellent coffee, adding to the delightful culinary experience. The hotel's amenities, such as free Wi-Fi, a cozy restaurant, and a panoramic terrace, enhanced our stay. We particularly appreciated the hotel's commitment to offering a comfortable and enjoyable experience, even under unexpected weather conditions. The Alpinhotel Bort also offers a variety of activities including hiking and skiing, making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Despite the unexpected snow, our experience at Alpinhotel Bort was joyful and memorable. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty and comfort of the Swiss mountains. After a full 40 years, we finally returned to Switzerland, a country that has etched itself in our hearts. The convenience of reaching higher altitudes without enduring long uphill hikes was fantastic. The abundance of mountain trains and gondolas available in Jungfrau region is unparalleled when compared to any other mountain area we have ever visited. We lodged at the Alpinehotel Bort, a gem perfectly nestled between Grindelwald and the First Cliff Walk. Access to this hotel can be achieved either by taking the First gondola or via a narrow, steep road open only during the summer months. The restaurant within the hotel serves delightful meals, prepared by an exceptional chef capable of crafting wonders such as a velvety pumpkin soup. The floor chef, Żaneta, was not only friendly but also impressively efficient, ensuring that our dining experiences were always enjoyable. With a spacious room that offered stunning views of the surrounding peaks—Eiger (3970m), Mönch (4107m), and Jungfrau (4158m)—we felt enveloped in the beauty of the Alps. The back view extended to the Schreckhorn peak, standing tall at 4078 meters. Each moment spent gazing at these majestic mountains felt like a treat for the soul.

The hotels location is incredible. We were driving and trust me driving to the location is not for faint hearted. It's located at very top of the mountain. It's secluded. We stayed a night here but wanted to stay more. The hotel is extremely pretty and the rooms were decent size. The interiors we fell in love with. The hotel staff at the reception was very helpful, smiling and friendly. They also have restaurant where you can eat food. There is mutliple activities that you can do. Everything was great. Ample parking available. This hotel is not located at city centre and only way to go down is by either gondola, or car.

The biggest advantage of the hotel's location is that it has a direct open view on Eiger and Grindelwald. You literally feel like a bird. The view from the window and a little area with loungers in front of our room were breathtaking. Literally, no words can describe this view. Staying at the hotel was already a gem of the trip. The breakfast was very nice. Everything was tasty, the restaurant interior is cozy. We loved it.

We had an incident during our stay - the cable car which was supposed to take us up and down the mountain had an issue so we could not use it on the last day. However, the staff were very helpful and kept us informed at all times, and later in the day they organized for out luggage to be delivered down to us after we had skied in another area of the resort. Overall very very nice stay.
